Cowgirls’ Season Ends With 2-1 Loss To Redlands

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team ended its season with a 2-1 loss to the University of the Redlands on Saturday night in the first round of the 2014 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship in San Antonio.

Redlands scored 1:36 before halftime on a McKenzie Oliger goal on a Savannah Laursen corner kick. The Bulldogs made it 2-0 on a Jen Franklin goal in the 52nd minute.

The Cowgirls goal came on an own goal in the 66th minute.

HSU had a couple chances late to tie the game, but Lexi Felix came up with a couple of big saves and another couple of shots were blocked.

The game was tight throughout and Redlands had a slight advantage in shots 12-11 and 7-6 on goal. Redlands had four corner kicks and HSU had two.

Felix had five saves and Lexi Stinson had four saves for the Cowgirls.

The loss ended the Cowgirls' season with a 16-3 record and was the final game for five seniors. Redlands will play Trinity on Sunday. The Bulldogs are now 12-6-3 on the year.
