August 31, 2019

ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team played to a scoreless tie through double overtime against Cal Lutheran on Saturday night at the HSU Soccer Complex.

The Cowgirls hosted their second game of the season on opening weekend on Saturday in Abilene. The game was another intense finish, with a possible Cowgirl golden goal being waived due to a foul on the play in the last few minutes of the second overtime period.

The Cowgirls led with seven shots and two on frame and the Regals had four total shots, all on goal. HSU also led the corner kicks margin with eight to Cal Lu's four.

Haley Foley started in the net for the Cowgirls and had four saves in all 110 minutes of play. Regal keeper Alexa Soto had two saves in the games, and both goalies left with a tie.

The Cowgirls are now 0-1-1 on the year through the first weekend and Cal Lutheran moves to 1-0-1. The Cowgirls are back next Saturday in Abilene facing off against Trinity at 7 p.m.
