MARSHALL, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team received a second-half goal from Casady Jenkins and the defense made it hold up in a 1-0 American Southwest Conference win at East Texas Baptist on Friday night.
The Cowgirls had the ball and run of play most of the first half but couldn't score on one of its 11 shots. Jenkins finally put the Cowgirls on the board in the 58th minute on an assist from Madelyn Dowell.
HSU outshot the Tigers 17-8 in the game and 13-5 on goal. HSU also had a 14-5 advantage on corner kicks in the contest.
Maddie Rae had 11 saves for the Tigers to keep them in the game. Haley Foley had five saves in the shutout for the Cowgirls.
The Cowgirls are now 6-2-1 on the year and 3-0 in ASC play. East Texas Baptist fell to 3-6-1 overall and 0-3 in league play. The Cowgirls will play at LeTourneau at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
