ALPINE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team won 2-0 playing at Sul Ross State on Saturday afternoon in American Southwest Conference play.
The Cowgirls were awarded a penalty kick in the 11th minute that Madelyn Dowell scored to take the lead 1-0 early. Freshman Hayden Abor scored off a Taylor Bernal assist in the 55th minute making it a 2-0 Cowgirl win.
The Cowgirls had 17 shots and five on target in the contest while the Sul Ross Lobos finished with seven shots and four on frame. The Cowgirls led with 11 corner kicks to the Lobos' one.
Haley Foley started in the goal for the Cowgirls and had four saves in the win. Alitzel Ybarra had three saves in her start at keeper for the Lobos.
The Cowgirls make it 11 in a row to bring their record to 11-2-1 on the season and 8-0 in ASC play. The Lobos fall to 2-8-4 and 1-5-2 in conference. The Cowgirls return home to host the Mary-Hardin Baylor Cru on Thursday night at 5 p.m. in Abilene.
