TYLER, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' softball team lost 12-0 and 9-0 to UT Tyler in Tyler on Saturday afternoon.
Kaitlin Ammerman led the team with a double in the top of the fifth, one of two hits for the Cowgirls in game one. For the Patriots, Serena Saldivar led her team with a three-run homer in the 12-0 Tyler win.
Colleen Bentke got the win allowing one hit in four innings for Tyler and Gabby Ortega took the loss for the Cowgirls.
Karis Hessert got her first career hit on a single to center in the top of the first of game two. For Tyler, Nicole Garcia had three RBIs and a homer in the 9-0 win.
Whitney Romero got the start and the win for the Patriots in game two, giving up one hit in three innings. Brookelyn Casper had the loss for the Cowgirls.
The Cowgirls finish this weekend at 3-6 on the season and Tyler has a record of 7-0. HSU returns to home next weekend to take on the other Abilene school at 1 and 3 P.M. Friday and 12 noon Saturday at Ellis Field.
