Cowgirls Complete the Sweep Against Concordia

ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' softball won 13-10 against Concordia on Saturday in Abilene to complete the three-game series sweep in American Southwest Conference action.

This game was another back and forth shootout, with Concordia scoring three runs in third and the fifth, both of which were answered immediately with matching Cowgirl three-run innings, making it 6-6 in the sixth.

The Cowgirls would score seven runs in the bottom of the sixth, led by a leadoff Sidney Cox double, a Kate Tovar triple, and six singles throughout the rest of the inning.

The Tornados weren't finished, however, and rallied for four runs in the top of the seventh, a valiant effort in the 13-10 loss.

Brookelyn Casper got the start on the mound for HSU and only gave up one earned run. Taylor Hinojos was the benefactor of the seven-run Cowgirl inning and got the win. Keeley Etchinson got the start for Concordia and Simone Langland had the loss.

The Cowgirls had 19 hits on the day, Tovar with four of them including a triple and Camille Scott with three hits and three RBIs. For the Tornados, Summer Harper had a pair of doubles and three RBIs.

The Cowgirls move to 7-8 on the season and 4-2 in the ASC while Concordia falls to 8-9 and 3- 6 in conference. The Cowgirls next game is in Belton against Mary Hardin-Baylor on Friday at 4 and 6 p.m.
