Cowgirls Drop Game One to Ozarks

ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' softball lost the first game of three against the Ozarks Eagles by a score of 10-6 on Friday in American Southwest Conference play.

Four different Cowgirls had two hits. Of those four, Kenzee Hessert and Sidney Cox both had two RBIs to lead the team.

Hailey Ostrander and Taylor Teague both had three hits for the Eagles and Teague had four RBIs to lead the team.

Gabby Ortega got the start for the Cowgirls and gave up ten hits in six innings for a total of eight runs with five strikeouts in the loss. Brookelyn Casper pitched the final inning for the Cowgirls.

Candace Rogers got the win in the start for the Eagles. She pitched five innings giving up eight hits and four runs. Abby Mork pitched the final two innings for Ozarks.

The Cowgirls drop to 18-20 overall and 13-12 in the ASC. Ozarks moves to 11-27 on the season and 8-20 in the conference. Be sure to join us at Ellis Field for Cowgirl Softball Senior Day on Saturday before the doubleheader at 12 noon.
