ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' volleyball team dropped its American Southwest Conference and home opener to Concordia on Friday night at the Mabee Complex, 25-19, 25-8, 25-18.
The first game was tight throughout and was tied at 19 when the Tornados won the last six points to take a 25-19 win. Concordia continued the momentum in the second game when they raced to a 10-1 lead to take control of the set.
HSU battled in the final game and it was tied at 16, but Concordia again had the late answer to win nine of the last 11 points to take the game and the match.
It was a tough match for the Cowgirls' against the block of Concordia. HSU hit a -.105 for the match and Concordia had nine blocks.
HSU is now 3-5 on the year and 0-1 in ASC action. Concordia improved to 10-3 overall and 3-0 in ASC play.
It will be a quick turnaround for the Cowgirls as they will host Mary Hardin-Baylor at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
