Cowgirls Sweep East Texas Baptist

ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' volleyball swept East Texas Baptist 25-18, 25-20, 25-8 to conclude the American Southwest Conference crossover on Saturday morning at Kimbrell Arena.

The win was the sixth straight for the Cowgirls and they did it in convincing fashion. In the first game, the Cowgirls used a 9-1 run midway through the set to take control 21-11. HSU finished off the set and it was more of the same in the second set when HSU took control with a 7-2 run when the score was close at 9-8.

In the decisive game, the Cowgirls rolled out to a 9-2 lead and never were threatened in the game.

Triniti Anderson led the Cowgirls' balanced attack with 11 kills. Sarah Bennett and Kailey Currington added seven kills each and Hannah Langerman chipped in six.

Mary Johnson led the Cowgirl defense with 12 digs and Karlie Knapek added 10 digs. Ashley Pierce added 34 assists. Pierce is 154 assists from the career school record.

The Cowgirls are now 10-8 on the year and 7-4 in conference play. HSU will next be in action on Tuesday at
