BROWNWOOD, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' volleyball team swept Howard Payne 25-14, 25-11, 25-15 on Tuesday night in Brownwood in American Southwest Conference action.
The Cowgirls hit a season-best .326 and it is six straight matches the Cowgirls have hit over .200 as a team. Triniti Anderson again led the way with 15 kills and a .444 hitting percentage. Kaytlynn Lewis and Kailey Currington each added seven kills and Sarah Bennett chipped in with six.
Karlie Knapek led the defense with 17 digs and Ashley Pierce had another double-double with 36 assists and 10 digs. The Cowgirls had the big serve working as well with 12 aces, including three each by Knapek and Hannah Huckabee.
The Cowgirl defense held HPU to a .000 hitting percentage in the match.
The Cowgirls are now 11-8 overall and 8-4 in conference play. Howard Payne fell to 2-22 overall and 0-13 in ASC action. HSU hits the road this weekend to face Mary Hardin-Baylor and Concordia, who are the top two teams in the ASC West standings.
