Cowgirls Place 17th At Chile Pepper Festival

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Hardin-Simmons' women's cross country team had a strong run at the Chile Pepper Festival on Saturday morning.  

The Cowgirls placed 17th in the race that featured 41 full teams along with partial teams from 14 others. HSU finished with a score of 506 and was the second-best Division III team in the race.

Senior Sydney Tencate led the Cowgirls with a time of 18:43 in the 5K race. She placed 17th overall in the 352-runner field.

Madison Hemenway ran a 20:41, Riley Stirm a 20:43, Lynda Farmer a 20:47 and Shelby Schmidt a 20:52 and all four placed in the top 150.

Brittany Acosta ran a 21:18, followed by Alex Pharris with a 21:51, Yadira Loera ran a 21:56, Rachel Clark ran a 22:15, Leslie Gonzalez finished 23:57, Lauren Stokes and Briana Cruz ran 24:249 and 24:51.

HSU will next be in action on Oct. 19 at the Bill Libby Invitational.
