RICHARDSON, Texas — Hardin-Simmons' baseball
team received a great start from Sam Walker and hit three home runs
to down Texas-Dallas, 4-3, in non-conference action on Thursday
afternoon in Richardson.
Walker, expected to be one of the Cowboys' top pitchers this
season, went seven innings and allowed only three hits and two
runs. He struck out four.
UTD got to Walker for two runs on two hits in the first inning. He
did not allow a hit after that in the next six innings.
HSU picked up two runs to tie the game in the fourth inning when
J.T. Armstrong hit a two-run home run to left field, knocking in
Regan Dixon who had singled.
Senior Kevin Ellison led off the fifth inning with a solo home run.
Armstrong had a two-out home run in the eighth to make it 4-2.
HSU closer Kyle Barton came in and worked the final two innings for
a save, despite allowing a run.
HSU is now 1-2 on the year and will head to Georgetown for a
Saturday doubleheader at Southwestern.
