Hardin-Simmons Cycling Team

Welcome to HSU Cycling! In 2024, the Hardin-Simmons Cycling program was founded after several years of development and planning. Mike McMaude, a 1990 graduate of HSU with a degree in business administration, set up an endowment to officially launch the new varsity program.
In the spring of ‘24, HSU competed for the first time in the SCCCC, with graduate student Julie Atlason winning an individual road conference championship in the women’s C-division. The program continues to grow, with four team members slated to compete for HSU in 2025. The team will compete in mountain biking in the fall, road in the spring, and numerous other disciplines and events in between all across the nation.
Beyond being nationally competitive as representatives for HSU, the program is also dedicated to partnering with our local cycling community to grow the love of the sport in the entire Big Country. Whether working at our local trails, teaming up with aspiring youth, or participating in a whole host of local cycling events, HSU team members have numerous opportunities for community involvement and leadership.
