Box Score ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' volleyball team swept Belhaven 25-13, 26-24, 25-21 on Friday night in American Southwest Conference action at the Mabee Complex.
The Cowgirls came out with a fast start from the service line. HSU had eight service aces in the first game and cruised to a 25-13 win.
In the second game, neither team led by more than three points and the set was tied on eight different occasions.
HSU closed the match with a strong third set, hitting .289 as a team. HSU used a 5-0 run to break a 10-10 and held the Blazers away the rest of the set.
Taylor Salone led the Cowgirls with 11 kills and she hit .400 in the match. Abbi Allen and Alicia Becerra added eight kills each for HSU. Defensively, Becerra added 12 digs to record a double-double and Jacee Childers had 11 digs.
Alice Meyer and Hannah Huckabee ran the offense and finished with 19 and 15 assists respectively.
HSU had 12 service aces in the match with Huckabee and Childers recording three each.
The Cowgirls are now 3-3 on the year and 2-3 in ASC action. Belhaven fell to 2-11 overall and 0-5 in league play. HSU will host East Texas Baptist on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Mabee Complex.
