RICHARDSON, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy soccer team took down the UT Dallas Comets 2-1 in ASC play on Thursday night on the road.
The Cowboys are currently in the hunt for the two seed in the ASC after a draw with Concordia Texas, who is currently second. The top two seeds in the ASC Tournament will have a bye in the first round.
The Cowboys would need to finish with a win at Ozarks and Concordia would need to lose at top-seed UMHB Saturday for the Cowboys.
Hardin-Simmons took the lead at UTD on Thursday in the 15
th minute with a goal from
Jerron Garcia, assisted by
Jakob Fiol. Garcia now has two goals on the year and Fiol three assists.
The Comets would tie the game early in the second to leave the score 1-1 late in the game. Fiol would come in clutch for the Cowboys in the 76
th minute to score the game-winner in the top of the net.
Fiol leads the Cowboys with five goals this year. HSU had eight shots and five shots on goal to 19 shots and four shots on goal by the Comets in the win.
Carson Null started in goal for the Cowboys with three saves in full time in the win.
Hardin-Simmons improves to 6-5-5 and 4-1-2 in the ASC with the final match of the season at Ozarks on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
