CLARKSVILLE, Ark. – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl soccer team ended the regular season with a 5-0 win at Ozarks in American Southwest Conference play.
The Cowgirls finish the ASC season at 7-1-1 in the conference and will host the ASC Championship Tournament beginning next weekend.
Lauren Stengel knocked in her third goal of the year for HSU before half to make it a 1-0 lead with an assist from
Rachel Bonnin.
Lexi Templin added a goal in the 50
th from
Gabby Aviles and another goal in the 53
rd, again assisted by Aviles, to make it 3-0 Hardin-Simmons quickly into the half.
Julie Atlason scored her seventh goal of the year in the 69
th minute and
Kirsten Bush finished the scoring with a goal in the 82
nd to make it 5-0 Cowgirls in the win over the Eagles.
Kaylee Maddox and
Cora Saucedo had assists for the Cowgirls as well.
Templin ends the regular season of her freshman year with 17 goals and 17 games, currently leading the ASC with games to still be played later tonight.
Jenna Russell got the start in goal for the Cowgirls with two saves in the shutout win.
The Cowgirls move into postseason with a record of 14-1-2 and 7-1-1 in the ASC. The ASC Championship Tournament starts next week and we will keep you updated on all of the action.
