ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy basketball team defeated the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs 93-77 to officially begin basketball season at Hardin-Simmons on Friday night in the Mabee Athletic Complex behind a career-high 28 points from
Will Bartoszek.
The Cowboys led 43-29 at halftime and both teams got hot in the second half on offense, with HSU scoring 50 points in the second to win 93-77.
Hardin-Simmons shot 59%, going 35-59 from the field.
Will Bartoszek scored a career-high 28 points in the opening game of his senior season for the Cowboys. He added five rebounds and tied the team lead with four assists in the game. Bartoszek averaged 15 points a game last season.
Sophomore
Jason Justice scored 21 points against Texas Lutheran and had four assists as well. Junior
Jalen McGee scored 13 in the Cowboy win, also with four assists.
The Cowboys start the year off with a win and will host the Schreiner Mountaineers on Saturday at 5 p.m. in the Mabee Athletic Complex.
