NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl soccer team ended the year in the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament Sweet 16 round on Saturday with a 1-0 loss to Cal Lutheran.
The Cowgirls went down 1-0 on a goal following a corner kick that bounced around in tight and scored for the Regals in the 15
th minute. The Cowgirls finish the season 17-2-3.
The Cowgirls shot four times with one shot on goal and Cal Lu shot 19 times with seven shots on goal. HSU had five corners and Cal Lu had 10. Senior
Haley Foley had six saves for the Cowgirls in the match.
Hardin-Simmons ends the year in the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2018 after winning the ASC Championship and returning to the NCAA postseason in the second year of head coach
Lance Key.
