ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' women's basketball team closed out the semester with a 93-69 win over George Fox University on Tuesday afternoon at the Mabee Complex.
The Cowgirls rank second nationally in scoring at 85.8 points per game. HSU jumped to a quick 8-2 lead on back-to-back 3-pointers by
Paris Kiser and
Samantha Tatum. HSU closed the first quarter on a 12-3 run and led 26-12 after one period.
HSU's second unit pushed the lead out to 38-16 with 6:05 to play in the first half and the Cowgirls led 48-26 at intermission.
The Cowgirls opened the second half on a 14-4 run and pushed the lead to 62-30. The Cowgirls led by as many as 39 points in the third quarter. George Fox made an 11-0 run in the fourth quarter but it wasn't enough as HSU won its fifth straight game.
HSU hit 12 3-pointers in the contest on 12-of-26 shooting and shot 32-of-62 overall from the field. The Cowgirls also forced 19 turnovers and turned them into 22 points.
Freshman
Madison Williams led four players in double figures with 15 points.
Parris Parmer added 14, Tatum had 13 and Kiser chipped in 12 as the Cowgirl starters played just under 21 minutes in the game.
Ella Roberts led Geoge Fox with 14 points and Erin Yoshitake and Jenna Lacey added 10 points each.
The Cowgirls are now 10-1 on the year and GFU fell to 1-6. HSU will return to action after Christmas when it travels to Georgia to play Piedmont and Emory.
