TOPEKA, Ka. – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy indoor track team competed at the Washburn Alumni Invitational on Saturday with multiple record performances.
Freshman
Davare Payne broke the Cowboy indoor 60m hurdles record with an 8.34 in the finals, taking third overall at the meet. Payne also broke the indoor record in the triple jump with a 14.23m landing, taking third place at Washburn.
Gunner Helm tied the indoor record for the Cowboys in the high jump with a clear of 1.95m. He finished eighth at Washburn.
Freshman
Aiden Loper took fifth place with a shot put of 14.09m for the Cowboys.
Rafael Sanabria led the Cowboys in the 60m with a 7.14 time.
Donovan Simmons ran a 7.15 and
Bain Shanklin had a 7.22 in the 60m.
Javarian Belcha had a 7.22 as well and
Joshua Olabode ran a 7.33.
Kaden Landeros finished in 7.41 in the 60m, and Helm ran a 7.53.
Brett Zamzow had a 7.63 and
Zorian Burley finished in 7.78.
Garret Rothans finished top-ten with an 8.72 in the 60m hurdles.
Kennan Dowling ran an 8.92 in the event.
Simmons led the Cowboys in the 200m with a 22.46.
Kareem Mason ran 23 seconds flat, Belcha had a 23.26, Sanabria finished in 23.27, and Shanklin came in at 23.29. Olabode ran 23.81 and Zamzow finished 24.11, while Burley ran a 25.01 200m.
Chris Freeman led HSU in the 400m with a 53.04. Elijah Holmes ran a 56.04, and Jose Villareal finished in 56.68.
Mark Valdez led the Cowboys in the 800m with a 2:13 for fourth place.
Markus Stone took sixth with a 2:25.
Holmes led HSU in the men's mile with a 4:51. Rothans had a 1.90m high jump for the Cowboys and
Ricardo Decius cleared 1.70m for HSU.
Landeros led the Cowboys with a 6.23m in the long jump. Evan Hanson threw 12.56m in the weight throw for the Cowboys.
Nathan Mangual threw 10.39m in the event.
Hardin-Simmons had a Cowboy 4x400m time of 3:33 from Simmons, Freeman, Zamzow, and Mason.
