ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl volleyball team defeated the McMurry War Hawks 3-1 on Tuesday night in a road game down at McMurry.
The Cowgirls dropped the first set and then finished off the next three for 3-1 win with set scores of 19-25, 25-21, 25-14, 25-15.
The Cowgirls had 46 kills on the night and only allowed 26 from McMurry. Hardin-Simmons had 13 blocks and 44 assists in four sets as well.
Abbi Allen led with 12 kills for Hardin-Simmons.
Liz Underwood and
Leigh Jespersen each had nine kills on Tuesday.
Gabby Jones had her best blocking game of the season so far with seven total blocks against the War Hawks. Underwood and
Jadyn Hernandez each added four blocks for the Cowgirls.
Ali Meyer led the team with 23 assists and
Keatyn Rodgers totaled 14 assists for HSU. Jespersen and
Kat Martinez tied the Cowgirl lead with 17 digs each and Meyer had 13 digs to make a double-double with her assists.
The Cowgirls improve to 11-5 on the season after defeating McMurry and will host Mary Hardin-Baylor on Friday night at 6 p.m. for an ASC match at the Mabee Athletic Complex.
