Hardin-Simmons Runners Heading to NCAA Regional in Oregon

ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl and Cowboy cross country teams will run at the NCAA Division III West Regional Championships on Saturday hosted by Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon with the women at noon and the men racing at 1 p.m. CST.
 
The Cowgirl team will take six runners to the NCAA regional, Kylah Holland, Jasmin Mendez, Traci Martin, Abigail Cox, Hope Fuentes, and Faith Miller.
 
Holland set the ASC Championship record with a 6k time of 22:50 and was the individual champion for the Cowgirls. She hopes to return to the NCAA Championship race for a third straight year.
 
Holland, Mendez, and Martin were each named all-ASC runners for their finish at the conference championship race where the Cowgirls finished third overall.
 
Four Cowboys will make the trip to run in Portland on Saturday, Elijah Holmes, Aiden Seekins, Noah Bela, and Nathan Oxte.
 
Holmes finished third with a 27:24 8k at the ASC championship race and was named the ASC Co-Sportsmanship Athlete of the Year.
 
Seekins ran 28:06 and finished No. 7 at the championship and was named the ASC Freshman of the Year.
 
Bela placed No. 11 with an 8k race of 28:25 at the championship and went home with the ASC Newcomer of the Year award.
 
Holmes, Seekins, and Bela were each named all-ASC runners for their top finishes at the conference championship.
 
The Cowgirls will run first at the NCAA West Regional beginning at 12 p.m. CST on Saturday with the Cowboys to follow at 1 p.m. CST.
