AUSTIN, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' baseball team fell 5-0 to Concordia on Saturday afternoon at the Mike Gardner Classic in Austin.
Most of the damage was done on one swing in the second inning. Adam Peavey found the gap and drove in three runs with two outs in the inning. He added a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning and the Bulldogs scored on a wild pitch in the ninth inning.
Wyatt Tumlinson started for the Cowboys and went six innings and allowed four runs on four hits and he struck out three.
Alex Carte tossed two scoreless innings and Bradley Fletcher worked the ninth inning for his first collegiate appearance.
The Cowboys could not solve J.T. Taylor as he allowed just four hits over six innings to earn the win. Garrett Nedd worked the final three innings for a save.
Kyler Reed had two of the Cowboys' five hits.
HSU is now 1-2 on the year and will next be in action on Friday when it hosts Belhaven in a doubleheader. The late game scheduled against Concordia has been canceled because of rain. TLU improved to 5-1 on the year.
