Box Score IRVING, Texas – Jett Forrest hit a two-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to cap a rally for Hardin-Simmons and
Jaydon Stephens slammed the door in the ninth inning to give Hardin-Simmons' baseball team an 8-7 win over the University of Dallas.
The win pushed the Cowboys' winning streak to six games, all of which have come on the road. HSU is now 7-9 on the year and Dallas fell to 12-3.
Kyler Reed gave the Cowboys a 1-0 lead in the first inning with a sacrifice fly before the Crusaders scored two runs in the first inning and two more in the third to push the lead to 4-1.
Freshman Jacob Hollinsworth had a two-run single in the fifth inning to cut the deficit to 4-3 before UD hit a two0-run home run to push the lead to 6-3. Hollingsworth then narrowed the game to 6-5 with a two-run home run in the seventh inning and
Gannon Azios tied the game with an RBI single in the same inning.
UD scored a run in the eighth inning when a pop up with two outs got up in the wind and did tricks to fall for a go-ahead run.
With one out in the ninth, Reed worked a walk and Forrest blasted a home run to left field to give the Cowboys an 8-7 lead.
Stephens came on and worked a 1-2-3 ninth going through the top of the UD order to nail down his second save of the season.
Freshman
Jace Martinez started and went two and two-third innings allowing four runs on five hits.
Brandon Bane worked two and one-third innings allowing two runs.

Senior
Grant Mitzelfelt, who has been out most of the last three weeks with an injury, was able to get back on the mound in the eighth inning and picked up the win in relief to improve to 1-2.
Hollingsworth led the Cowboys' 11-hit attack with three hits and he drove in four runs. Four different Crusaders had two hits each.
HSU will head to Alpine for a three-game series this weekend, starting with a 4 p.m. doubleheader. The games will not count in the ASC standings.
