ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's and women's outdoor track competed with a handful of throws and running events on the first night of the ACU Wes Kittley Invitational.
Elijah Holmes took first place in the 10k for HSU with a time of 36:04 in the ACU race.
Kylah Holland placed second for the Cowgirls in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 11:02. Jazmin Mendez placed ninth in the steeple.
Abigail Cox ran a 45:51 in the 10k for the Cowgirls. Hope Fuentes finished in 21:12 in the 5k.
Abby Bramlett threw the javelin 100-3 ft. for HSU. Faith Miller also threw javelin for the Cowgirls.
Juan Uribe ran a time of 4:41 for the Cowboys in the 1500m run. Nicolia Nelson threw the javelin 169-1 ft. for Hardin-Simmons and placed fifth at the meet.
Joshua Carpenter threw a javelin of 143-9 ft. and
Nathan Mangual went for 102-3 ft. in the Cowboy javelin throw.
Evan Hanson threw a discus to lead the Cowboys for 132-3 ft. Cole Burk threw 127 ft.,
Carson Ozbun threw for 123-5 ft., and Mangual threw 94-10 ft. Stephen Fitzer had a 94-03 ft. and
Aiden Loper also threw discus for the Cowboys.
The Cowboys and Cowgirls will continue of Saturday at ACU.
