ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy outdoor track and field team won a pair of jump events and a relay at the Division I ACU Wes Kittley Invitational on Saturday in Abilene.
Gunner Helm took the high jump win at ACU with a clear of 6-6 ¾ ft.
Garret Rothans came in second overall as the Cowboys led the field, Rothans jumping 6-4 ¾ ft.
Davare Payne got another first-place finish in the long jump, landing a 45-6 ¼ ft. jump to win at ACU. Payne also led the Cowboys in the triple jump with eighth place overall in the meet with a jump of 21-8 ft.
The Cowboy 4x100m relay team consisted of
Kaden Landeros,
Joshua Olabode,
Javarian Belcha, and
Donovan Simmons, who all took first place in the ACU race with a time of 42.62.
Evan Hanson took sixth overall at ACU in the hammer throw with a toss of 142 ft.
Nathan Mangual also finished top-10 with a hammer throw of 124-1 ft.
Mangual led the Cowboys in the shot put with a 43-5 ¾ ft. throw to place eighth.
Aiden Loper placed tenth with a 42-7 ft. shot put.
Markus Stone ran a time of 1:13 in the 400m hurdles to lead the Cowboys at ACU. Payne got another top-10 finish for Hardin-Simmons in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.22.
Chris Freeman led the Cowboys in the 400m, coming in at 53.46 at ACU. Elijah Holmes led the Cowboys in the 800m with a time of 2:14.
Donovan Simmons led the team in the 100m with a time of 10.95. Simmons also finished top-10 in the 200m to lead HSU with a time of 22.20.
The Cowboys will travel to the Greyhound Open on March 30 to compete in Portales, New Mexico.
