SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy outdoor track team had a record in the triple jump in the second day of competition at the Trinity Invitational on Saturday.
Davare Payne broke a Cowboy outdoor track record and placed second overall at the Trinity meet in the triple jump with a 49-7 ft. jump for the Cowboys. He broke the record of Jordan Flores at 49-2 ½ ft. in 2022 which qualified for nationals.
Evan Hanson led the Cowboys in the shot put with a throw of 43-4 ¾ ft. Nathan Mangual threw for 42-8 ½ ft. for Hardin-Simmons. Jake Deviney had a pole vault of 13-1 ½ ft. for HSU.
Carson Ozbun led the Cowboys in the discus throw with a 115-2 ft. toss.
The Cowboy 4x100m relay team of Bain Shanklin, Joshua Olabode, Javarian Belcha, and Donovan Simmons took fifth place with a time of 42.11.
Elijah Holmes led the Cowboys in the 1500m run with a time of 4:27. Aiden Chalk led the Cowboys in the 110m hurdles with a 15.77 finish. Garret Rothans was right beside him finishing in 15.98 in the hurdles.
Adan Antoyo led the Cowboys in the 400m with a time of 51.20. Simmons ran a 10.99 in the 100m to lead the Cowboys.
Chris Freeman led Hardin-Simmons in the 400m hurdles, running a 1:00.66. Elijah McKinney led the Cowboys in the 200m dash with a 24.15 finish.
Zach Mitchell led the team with a 16:10 time in the 5k. The 4x400m relay team of Santoyo, Simmons, Kareem Mason, and Brett Zamzow ran a 3:27 for the Cowboys.
The next meet on the schedule for HSU track will be on March 30 at the Greyhound Open in Portales, New Mexico.
