ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy outdoor track and field team competed at the War Hawk Classic hosted by McMurry with a win in the high jump.
Gunner Helm cleared 6-8 ¾ ft. in the high jump for first place at McMurry.
Evan Hanson led the Cowboys in three major throws. Hanson threw 146-4 ft. in the discus, 142-6 ft. in the hammer throw, and 43-4 ½ ft. in the shot put, finishing top-10 in each event at McMurry.
Joshua Carpenter led the Cowboys in the javelin throw with a 136-2 ft. throw.
The 4x100m relay team had a finish of 41.77 and was made up of
Bain Shanklin,
Davare Payne,
Javarian Belcha, and
Donovan Simmons.
Belcha led HSU in the 100m with a time of 10.83.
Garret Rothans had the team lead in the 110m hurdles running a 15.68.
Kareem Mason ran the 200m in 22.42 to lead all Cowboys.
Miller Young ran a 400m time of 52.36 for Hardin-Simmons.
Markus Stone finished the 400m hurdles circuit in 1:06 for Hardin-Simmons and
Zach Mitchell ran the 1500m with a time of 4:16.
The Cowboys will return to McMurry starting April 25 for the American Southwest Conference Championships for outdoor track and field.
