Cowboys Win Triple and High Jumps at Angelo State

SAN ANGELO, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy outdoor track and field team won a pair of jumps at the David Nobles Relays hosted by Angelo State.
 
Freshman Davare Payne won the triple jump at the meet, landing a 47-5 ¼ ft. jump for the Cowboys. Payne took fifth in the 110m hurdles with a finish of 14.40.
 
Gunner Helm won the meet high jump, clearing 6-8 ¾ ft. for HSU in the top spot.
 
Evan Hanson led the Cowboys in the hammer throw with a mark of 144-5 ft. He also led the team in the discus, throwing for 138-5 ft.
 
Nathan Mangual led Cowboy throwers in the shot put, tossing a 44-7 ft. mark.
 
Jay Black led the team in the long jump with a top-10 distance of 22-6 ft.
 
Joshua Carpenter led Hardin-Simmons in the javelin throw with a mark of 141-4 ft.
 
Zach Mitchell led the Cowboys with a time of 4:18 in the 1500m run.
 
Elijah Holmes led the Cowboys in the 5k, running a time of 17:43 in the event.
 
Billy Heath had the best Cowboy 400m, coming in at 52.91.
 
Javarian Belcha ran a 10.95 to lead Hardin-Simmons in the 100m dash. Belcha led all Cowboys in the 200m with a finish of 22.32.
 
Jose Villarreal ran a 400m hurdle time of 1:10 for HSU.
 
The Cowboy 4x100m relay team consisting of Bain Shanklin, Payne, Belcha, and Donovan Simmons placed third at Angelo State with a time of 41.67.
 
The Cowboy team will compete next weekend at McMurry on Friday and Saturday.
