SAN ANGELO, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy outdoor track and field athlete Nicolai Nelson set the Cowboy record in the decathlon with 5563 points at the 52^nd David Noble Relays hosted at Angelo State.
 
Nelson ran a time of 11.55 in the 100m, had a long jump 5.83m, and threw the shot put 11.01m for the Cowboys.
 
He finished with a high jump of 1.67m, ran a 400m in 55.80, had a time of 16.16 in the 110m hurdles, and threw the discus 38.19m.
 
In the decathlon pole vault, Nelson cleared 3.30m, and in the javelin he threw for 45.52m. Nelson ran a 5:42 in the 1500m to finish the decathlon events.
