MARSHALL, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl softball team dropped the opening game of the American Southwest Conference tournament 3-0 to the LeTourneau Yellowjackets on Thursday hosted at East Texas Baptist.
 
The Cowgirls went down 3-0 to the Yellowjackets with just two hits in the game. LeTourneau managed the win with four hits against HSU.
 
Haven Williams started and had the loss with five and a third innings pitched with a strikeout. Jorey Hood finished the game for the Cowgirls with an inning and two-thirds with two strikeouts.
 
The Cowgirls move to the elimination bracket at the ASC Tournament and will play the loser of the McMurry and Concordia game in the next round, with that game starting at 10 a.m. on Friday at ETBU.
