ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl soccer team played to a 3-3 draw with Concordia University (TX) on Monday night at the HSU Soccer Complex.
The Cowgirls had three goals in the first half and Concordia scored three in the second to make the game a 3-3 draw.
Presleigh Thiessen scored her first goal of the year in the 23
rd minute for the Cowgirls after a ball in from
Taylor Koch for the assist.
Koch got a chance and finished a goal for HSU after a corner kick from
Kaylee Maddox bounced in to
Mercy Mummert, who dished it to Koch for goal in the 33
rd minute to make it 2-0.
Rachel Bonnin scored her first goal for the Cowgirls this year after a ball across from
Keanne Alamo, finding Bonnin on the backside of the net in the 44
th minute to get a 3-0 lead.
Concordia came back with a goal in the 48
th minute, 56
th minute, and a long arc in off a Tornado free kick to score the third goal to tie the game in the 79
th minute. The game didn't see many more chances and ended in a 3-3 tie.
The Cowgirls shot 31 times with eight shots on goal and Concordia shot 12 times with seven shots on goal. Hardin-Simmons had 12 corner kicks to one allowed for the Tornados.
Jenna Russell started the game in goal and had one save in the first half and
Abigail Medlin had two saves at keeper playing the second half for HSU.
The Cowgirls fall to 4-1-2 on the season and will host McMurry on Thursday night at 7 p.m.
