ROANOKE, Va. – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl soccer team shutout the Roanoke Maroons 2-0 on Sunday night on the road to end the trip to Virginia with the second win of the weekend.
Senior
Caroline Burrow connected for the game-winner in the shutout to put the Cowgirls up 1-0 in the 12
th minute against the Maroons.
Senior
Kaylee Maddox scored a goal in the 26
th minute to extend the Hardin-Simmons lead for a 2-0 final score in Virginia. Maddox is up to four goals for the Cowgirls this season in five games.
HSU shot 15 times with eight shots on goal in the game against Roanoke. The opponents shot 11 times with seven shots on frame. The Cowgirls led the night with eight corner kicks and allowed only two.
Sophomore
Jenna Russell got the start in goal for the Cowgirls with the shutout win in full time, adding seven saves in the game against Roanoke.
The Cowgirls win to go to 3-1-1 on the season and will be back at home on Saturday to host the Southwestern Pirates at 5:30 p.m. at the HSU Soccer Complex on Grape Street.
