GEORGETOWN, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl cross country team placed sixth overall out of nine teams at the Southwestern University Showdown 6k on Saturday morning.
Hardin-Simmons competed with runners from Dallas Baptist, Southwestern, Texas Running Club, Trinity, Dallas, Schreiner, Concordia, and Sul Ross State.
Jasmin Mendez led all Cowgirls and placed sixth overall in 78 total runners with a 6k time of 24:53.
Abigail Cox was in 25
th place with a finish of 26:54 for HSU.
Hope Fuentes ran a 6k of 28:44,
Ruthie Valdez finished in 30:04, and
Alexis Heckathorn had a time of 33:08 for the Cowgirl team.
Hardin-Simmons will have a week off from competition before the ASC Cross Country Championship on Nov. 1 hosted by Hardin-Simmons in Abilene.
