SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy tennis team had nine wins in the opening round at the ITA Southwest Regional hosted by Trinity on Friday, with a pair advancing into the round of 16 for A singles.
 
Three Cowboys won in the opening round of A singles, Payne Smith, Maddux Foster, and Gabriel Harris. Smith and Harris also won the second-round match and will continue in the main draw on Friday.
 
Gavin Hail and Phoenix Davis won the first round of B singles and will continue in the main draw on Friday.
 
Kayden Lengacher and Harris won in the first round of A doubles for HSU and will continue in the main draw Friday afternoon at Trinity.
 
Joshua Miller and Gavin Hail picked up a B doubles win to start, as did Wyatt Terrell and Luke Leavelle in a tiebreaker. Brandon Curiel and Pedro Rozani also won in B doubles to start the ITA Southwest Regional on Thursday afternoon.
 
The Cowboy team will continue in the ITA Southwest Regional hosted at Trinity in San Antonio on Friday in the main draws and consolations for singles and doubles.
