ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl volleyball team delivered a dominant performance Friday night, sweeping Howard Payne University 3-0, with sets of 25-17, 25-10, and 25-15 at the Mabee Complex in American Southwest Conference action.
The Cowgirls hit .356 as a team and outpaced the Yellow Jackets in kills (41-25), blocks (12-3), and service aces (5-3). Hardin-Simmons maintained control from start to finish, highlighted by efficient offense and strong net defense.
Leigh Jespersen led the Cowgirls with 13 kills, while right side
Abbi Allen added seven kills and a team-high six block assists.
Jadyn Hernandez was nearly perfect on the attack with seven kills and a .778 hitting percentage. Setter
Keatyn Rodgers distributed 21 assists and contributed three digs, while
Ari Villanueva added nine digs and two service aces.
Hardin-Simmons improved to 12-3 and 3-1 in the ASC and will return to action on Saturday, October 10 at 4 p.m. playing against Lawrence at the Wis.-Whitewater tournament in Whitewater, Wisconsin.
