ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy cross country team won the 2025 American Southwest Conference cross country championship on Saturday for the school's first championship title in the history of the sport.

Sydney Tencate led the Cowboys to finish with a score of 29, beating UMHB with 42 and ETBU with 55. Hardin-Simmons was named the ASC Men's Cross Country Coaching Staff of the Year.
The Cowboys had five scoring runners inside of the top nine finishers at the ASC championship.
Noah Bela led HSU with a second-place finish at the ASC championship, running a 26:39 8k. Bela was named first-team all-ASC.
Aiden Seekins finished fourth overall at the championship race, with an 8k of 27:04.
Nathan Oxte placed sixth overall in the race, with a time of 27:46. Seekins and Oxte were named first-team all-ASC.
Tate and
Zack Strange finished No. 8 and No. 9 at the championship, Tate running a 27:57 and Zack clocking a 28:56. The Strange brothers were named second-team all-ASC.
Austin Seekins ran an 8k in 30:12 for the Cowboys and
Carlos Alvarado ran a time of 35:53 for HSU.
The Cowboys will travel to the NCAA Regional race on November 15 hosted by Pomona-Pitzer in California.
