ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl cross country team took third place at the 2025 American Southwest Conference women's cross country championship in Abilene, where senior
Jasmin Mendez finished second overall.
The Cowgirls finished with a score of 49, trailing UMHB with 44, and ETBU with 33.
Mendez ran a 6k championship race of 23:46 for the Cowgirl team placing second in the race. She was named first-team all-ASC.
Abigail Cox ran a 25:06 6k for the Cowgirls to place sixth place in the ASC championship. Cox was named first-team all-ASC for her top-seven finish.
Hope Fuentes and
Ruthie Valdez were both named to the all-ASC second-team. Fuentes ran a time of 26:49 for tenth place and Valdez came in No. 11 at 26:52 in the championship. Valdez was also named the ASC Freshman of the Year.
Alexis Heckathorn ran a 6k in 29:49 and
Faith Miller also competed for the Cowgirls.
The Cowgirls will travel to the NCAA Regional race on November 15 hosted by Pomona-Pitzer in California.
