SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl soccer team ended the year at the NCAA Division III women's soccer championship tournament regional round, falling to Trinity 2-0 in the first round on Saturday.
The Cowgirls entered the match as the ASC champion and automatic qualifier to the NCAA tournament for the third straight season. They faced the SAA champion Trinity Tigers for the first round in San Antonio.
Trinity to the lead in the fifth minute and would score an insurance goal in the 70
th minute to go up 2-0 to win on Saturday morning.
Hardin-Simmons created chances but were unable to finish for goal, while senior goalkeeper
Abigail Medlin had five saves in the match to keep the Cowgirls in striking distance.

Presleigh Thiessen finished with two shots on goal each for HSU.
The Cowgirls finished with 14 shots to 18 shots by Trinity and four shots on goal to seven shots on goal. Trinity held the edge with four corner kicks to three corner kicks by HSU.
Hardin-Simmons ends the year 11-4-2 on the season after another ASC championship and subsequent trip to the NCAA Tournament.
