ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy basketball put together a strong offensive performance but came up short in a high-scoring battle, falling 107-96 to Concordia Texas on Tuesday night inside the Mabee Complex.
The Cowboys (4-1) posted 96 points behind efficient shooting and a balanced scoring effort, finishing 31-of-68 from the field and 27-of-36 from the free-throw line. Concordia countered with 39 made field goals and forced 24 HSU turnovers to fuel its offense.
Hardin-Simmons was led by
Silas Davis, who poured in 22 points on 7-of-16 shooting while adding five rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
Chris Bryant matched him with 22 points of his own, shooting 10-for-16 from the floor and collecting eight rebounds and three blocks to anchor the Cowboys in the paint.
Gavin Davis added 18 points, four rebounds, and three assists, while
Jabari Parker provided a spark off the bench with 11 points, including three made 3-pointers.
Tyler Williams gave HSU key interior production, finishing with eight points, five rebounds, four assists, and three steals.
HSU came back from down 18 points to take the lead at the half 54-52 with a 3-pointer at the buzzer from Davis. The Tornados got a few key stops late and won the game 107-96.
Concordia was led by a pair of standout offensive performances, including Joey Ramirez with 28 points and Anariss Brandon with 26 points, helping the Tornados pull away late in the second half.
The Cowboys will travel to Seguin, Texas to play at Texas Lutheran on Sunday, Nov. 23 with the game tipping off at 2 p.m.
