Cowboys Face ETBU Thursday In Belton For ASC Tournament

ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy soccer team will play the East Texas Baptist Tigers on Thursday, Nov. 6 at 1 p.m. in the 2025 American Southwest Conference men's soccer championship tournament semifinal hosted by UMHB in Belton, Texas.
 
The Cowboys ended the regular season with a 2-2 tie against top-seed UMHB last Saturday. Earlier in the year, the Cowboys tied ETBU 2-2 and won 3-2 on the road.
 
The Cowboys enter the ASC tournament at 5-8-2 and 2-2-2 in conference play this season under head coach Brad Bankhead.
 
The Cowboys haven't lost a game in which they have scored a goal, going 5-0-2 in those contests. In the last three games the offense has been trending upwards, as the Cowboys are 2-0-1 and have scored eight goals total, including wins of 3-2 against ETBU and 3-1 at Howard Payne, before tying UMHB 2-2 most recently.
 
James Webb leads all scorers with seven goals on the season. Benny Lube and Daniel Villagomez each have three goals scored, and Lube leads the team with six assists.
 
Carson Null has played 11 games at goalkeeper for HSU and has 41 saves in 900 minutes so far this season. Griffin Cardwell has split time in goal with 18 saves in 405 minutes across six different games for the Cowboys.
 
Hardin-Simmons will start the ASC championship tournament on Thursday, Nov. 6 at 1 p.m. against ETBU. The winner will play the winner of the UMHB and Howard Payne, scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday.
 
The championship will be on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. in Belton. All games will be played at host school Mary Hardin-Baylor.
