Berry Carries Cowgirls With Career-High 30 Points Over Colorado College

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl basketball team won another game with the last shot 68-66 at Colorado College on Thursday thanks to a career-high 30 points from sophomore Jacqueline Berry.
 
The Cowgirls won last Saturday night with a bucket from Berry to take the lead with six seconds left in the 75-74 win over McMurry, and Berry scored with two seconds to get the win 68-66 at Colorado College for HSU on Thursday night.
 
Berry cranked out a career-high 30 points on 13-25 shooting with two 3-pointers in the game against the Tigers. She added ten rebounds to lead Hardin-Simmons and finished with the double-double on the night.
 
The Cowgirls led 14-7 after the first quarter and headed to halftime down 29-27 to the Tigers. HSU went into the fourth quarter trailing 45-43 before taking the lead up 64-60 with two minutes left. The Tigers tied the game at 66-66, but the Cowgirls got Berry the ball for a winning layup with two seconds left to get to 10-1 on the year.
 
Hardin-Simmons shot 29-63 for 46 percent in the game and held the Tiger offense to shooting 37 percent on 22-58 from the field. Colorado College had a narrow edge in rebounding 40-39 over the Cowgirls, but HSU won the turnover battle 14-18 in the game.
 
MaeSyn Gay finished with 14 points in the game for Hardin-Simmons, her fifth game this year with ten or more points. Dylan Koele scored 11 points and had four steals at Colorado College; it was her sixth game of the season with ten points or more.
 
The Cowgirls won their tenth-straight game on Thursday night and will play against Wartburg hosted at Colorado College on Friday starting at 4 p.m.
