HOUSTON, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' women's golf team finished in sixth place at the spring-opening Space City Classic at the Gus Worth Golf Course in Houston.
 
Trinity won the tournament with a 303-307-610 beating second-place Mary Hardin-Baylor by 22 strokes. Southwestern was third with a 648, LeTourneau finished fourth with a 658, St. Thomas was fifth at 663, HSU was sixth with a 337-342-679, Dallas was seventh at 687 and Schreiner eighths at 737.
 
Shay West led the Cowgirls with an 18^th-place finish. She Shot 83 in both rounds for a 166 total. Ella Campbell shot 83-87-170, Aly Navarro had a pair of 86s for a 172 total, Allison McGinnis shot 87-86-173 and Brooke Wooldridge shot 85-89-174.
 
Jessica Mason of Trinity won the individual title with a 72-69-141 total and she was nine shots ahead of second place.
 
The Cowgirls will next be in action March 3-4 at the Schreiner Shootout at Comanche Trace in Kerrville.
