NEW YORK, N.Y. – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy basketball team went down 91-59 to the No. 1 ranked NYU Violets on Friday night in the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 round playing in New York.
The Cowboys started out slow and were on the receiving end of a great half from NYU. Hardin-Simmons shot 27 percent in the first half and the Violets shot 53 percent, including shooting 8-19 on 3-pointers to get up 50-18 at the half.
The Cowboys improved on offense in the second but were unable to press into the lead of NYU and went down by a final score of 91-59.
Hardin-Simmons shot 22-75 in the game at 29 percent and NYU shot 33-70 at 47 percent in the game. The Violets led the rebounding margin 55-42 over the Cowboys.
Chris Bryant scored 12 points to lead the Cowboys at NYU in the NCAA Tournament game.
Hardin-Simmons finished the season with a record of 20-10 and the senior class of
Will Bartoszek,
Austin Brewer, and
Cooper Peterson finish with an ASC Championship and a trip to the NCAA Sweet 16 for the second time in program history.
