ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy tennis team went down 4-3 to East Texas Baptist on Saturday afternoon in the 2025 American Southwest Conference men's tennis tournament championship match.
A quick 6-2 doubles win from Cowboys
Brandon Curiel and
Nick Boquet in the third flight was upended by two wins from the ETBU Tigers in doubles flights one and two for the first point of the match.
The Tigers extended the lead with a win at the fourth flight of singles to go up 2-0. The Cowboy rebounded with a win from Boquet in the second singles match 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 against Snyman. Boquet was named to the ASC all-tournament team for the Cowboys with two wins in the championship match.
ETBU closed the first flight of singles with a split-set win to go up 3-1, but the Cowboys took two more singles matches to tie the match at 3-3.
Maddux Foster came back from down a set to win the sixth singles flight 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 and
Zach Fowler had a marathon to finish in a tiebreaker-win after dropping the first set of the third singles flight 3-6. 6-4, 7-6(7-4). Fowler was named to the ASC all-tournament team for the Cowboys as well.
The Cowboys rallied to tie the match at 3-3 after wins from Maddux and Fowler, but a Max Karseno ETBU win at the fifth singles flight took the ASC championship 4-3.
The Cowboys finish the season at 9-13 after another year playing in the American Southwest Conference championship match. We'd like to thank our seniors
