BROWNWOOD, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' women's golf team is in fourth place after the first round of the American Southwest Conference Golf Championship, played at the Hideout Golf Club in Brownwood.
Mary Hardin-Baylor took the opening lead with a 299 and is six shots ahead of UC Santa Cruz. LeTourneau is third at 316, followed by HSU (322) and East Texas Baptist at 324.
Allison McGinnis led the Cowgirls with a 79 in the first round.
Shay West shot 80,
Ella Campbell 81 and
Aly Navarro and 82 for the four counting scores for HSU.
Brooke Wooldridge shot an 85 and
Jocelyn Dominguez an 88.
Isabel Crow of UMHB shot an even-par 72 and leads the individual race by one shot.
The second round will be on Saturday with tee times starting at 8 a.m. for the Cowgirls.
