ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl soccer team had four student-athletes join the USA D-3 women's soccer team tour to Brazil this summer.
Senior
Mercy Mummert, juniors
Kalea Willis and
Taylor Garrett, and sophomore
Lexi Templin were invited to be a part of the Division III Brazil tour for 2025.
The USA D-3 Soccer Team are invited NCAA Division III Women's players from across the country. This team is comprised of players recognized as All Americans, All Region, and All Conference. The 17 women's players hail from 9 different schools and 9 different home states. This team truly comes from coast to coast representing almost every part of the USA.
"Many of the players on this year's USA D-3 / Brazil Tour team had great individual seasons and led their teams into post season play."
"I believe that the players on this team will be some of the same players we see recognized as All Americans, All Region, and All Conference players in the Fall of 2024. This is an outstanding group of young women." says Ron Smith. "This tour is designed to expose players to a great soccer experience while providing a once in a lifetime opportunity for educational, cultural and social growth."
The TEAM will begin with orientation in Fort Lauderdale, Florida before the team flies to Sao Paulo, Brazil. The TEAM will play in the city of Jundiai on May 17. They will travel to the city of Sao Paulo and play at the Pinheiros Clube on May 18. The team will fly to Rio de Janeiro on May 18. While in Rio the team will play 2 additional matches on either Friday, Saturday or Sunday. The team will play 4 matches while in Brazil.
While in Brazil the teams will experience educational, cultural, and social aspects of Brazilian life through city, school, and sports club visits. While in Rio the team will be staying on the world-famous Copacabana Beach and touring the Christ the Redeemer Statue and Sugar Loaf Mountain, The Maracana Stadium, three of the most recognizable landmarks in the world.
