DALLAS, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl softball team had four major awards including
Emily Jacobs named ASC Player of the Year from the 2025 American Southwest Conference end of season awards, voted on by the league head coaches and announced on Tuesday.
Jacobs was named the ASC player of the Year in 2025, hitting .490 with an on-base percentage of .564 and a .708 slugging percentage. She started 32 games for the Cowgirls in left field as a sophomore with 47 hits, 12 doubles, and three home runs. Jacobs had 39 RBIs and scored 26 runs and earned 14 walks. Jacobs was named first-team all-ASC in the outfield, her second career all-ASC selection.
Pitcher
Gabby Montanez was named the ASC Freshman of the Year with 17 wins in 24 appearances in the circle. She threw 12 complete games and five shutouts with 124.1 innings pitched. Montanez finished the year with a 1.97 ERA and 57 strikeouts. Montanez was named first-team all-ASC at pitcher.
Cowgirl junior transfer
Akaysia Grogan was named the ASC Newcomer of the Year after joining the Cowgirls this season. She went 10-3 as a pitcher with a save in 87 innings pitched. Grogan had eight complete games pitching and threw 70 strikeouts with a .193 batting average against on the year. Grogan was named second-team all-ASC as a pitcher.

Shelby Elkins, and graduate assistants
Aubrianna Salazar and Brittanie Henry helped guide the Cowgirls to a record of 32-10 and 11-5 in ASC play.
Four more Cowgirls joined Montanez and Jacobs on the all-ASC first team.
Ella Salinas was first team at first base for the Cowgirls. Salinas hit .357 with nine doubles, four triples, and a home run and led the Cowgirls with 40 RBIs.
Madi Hubbard was named first team at third base for the Cowgirls. Hubbard hit .336 with seven doubles and 20 RBIs for HSU. She had 59 assists and 50 putouts on defense at third base with only four errors in 113 chances for a .965 fielding percentage.
Caitlin Clem was named first-team all-ASC at-large for designated player for Hardin-Simmons. The senior batted .324 with 20 RBIs and tied the team lead with four homers on the season.
Haley Henson was named all-ASC for the fourth time in her Cowgirl career on the first team in the at-large spot for outfield. She led the team with 66 hits and scored 55 runs on the year, batting .468. Henson set the Cowgirl record for runs in a season, runs scored in a career with 129, and triples in a season with seven. Henson hit seven doubles and two homers and stole 21 bases for the Cowgirls in her senior season.
Three other Cowgirl starters joined Grogan on the all-ASC second team.
Grace Thompson was named second team at second base for HSU. Thompson hit .307 with 40 starts at second base with five doubles, a triple, and two home runs. She finished with 28 RBIs, tied for third on the Cowgirl team and stole 22 bases as a junior.
Jazlynn Cantu was named to the second team at shortstop for the Cowgirls. She hit .387 in 42 starts with 11 doubles, two triples, and a home run with 23 RBIs on the season. She also led the Cowgirl defense with 75 assists at shortstop. Cantu was named all-ASC for the second time as a junior.
Graduate senior
Kristen McMillan was named all-ASC second team at-large at catcher for Hardin-Simmons. She hit .271 on the season with five doubles and a homer with 13 RBIs and eight stolen bases. McMillan threw out 13 runners trying to steal out of 32 total steal attempts from behind the plate.
Graduate senior
Lindsey Ratcliffe was named to the all-ASC third team in the outfield. She hit .367 in 42 starts in centerfield with 14 doubles to lead the team. Ratcliffe hit three triples and tied the team lead with four home runs and had 28 RBIs for the Cowgirls. She threw out four runners on assists from centerfield.
The Cowgirls finished the year at the ASC championship tournament last weekend and we would like to thank our senior Cowgirls
