ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy outdoor track and field team had two members, Gunner Helm and Garret Rothans, qualify to compete in the high jump at the 2025 NCAA Division III national championships beginning next weekend.
 
Helm finished the season ranked second in Division III in the high jump with a Cowboy outdoor record 6-11 ft. jump accomplished at Trinity. Helm also broke the indoor track high jump school record and was an indoor track All-American in the event earlier this year.
 
Rothans finished the season tied for No. 8 in the nation in the high jump with a clear of 6-9 ½ ft. for the Cowboys. Rothans got his mark at the Trinity Last Chance meet two weeks ago after having hit 6-9 ft. earlier in the outdoor season.
 
Helm and Rothans will return to the 2025 NCAA Division III outdoor track national championships for the second season in a row. The championship meet will be held in Geneva, Ohio at the SPIRE Institute's Outdoor Track and Field facility from May 22-24. The men's high jump finals will take place on Friday beginning at 1 p.m.
