GENEVA, Ohio – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy outdoor track and field team had two jumpers compete in the high jump at the NCAA Championships on Friday, with
Garret Rothans going home a first-team All-American.
Rothans placed No. 6 in the high jump with a clear of 6-8 ¾ ft. He became the second-ever Cowboy outdoor track and field All-American, joining Dustin Baker from 2015 in the discus throw. Rothans is the fifth Cowboy track All-American in total including the three indoor track honorees.
Rothans and
Gunner Helm both qualified for the 2025 NCAA Division III outdoor track and field championships in the high jump, placing inside the top-20 marks in the nation. Helm competed for the Cowboys on Friday as well in the high jump, and both Rothans and Helm qualified for the NCAA championships for the second year in a row for outdoor track.
